Voice In Ministry was first established in 2008 as SOS Vocal Training, providing vocal training to singers who wanted to build their confidence to sing. Although the service offered vocal training to the general public, many of the students who found SOS were hailing from the Black Pentecostal church and, as demand increased, it soon became obvious that a need for a comprehensive and professional uk based vocal training resource was needed to work with and support the many Christian vocalists who wanted to develop their vocals for choir or worship team.
In 2015, after much prayer and thought, SOS Vocal Training split into two to offer a separate resource that focused on vocal training for worship leaders, contemporary christian vocalists and gospel singers. |
Who Are We? |
VoiceinMinistry.uk and its sister site, SOS Vocal Training, are both owned by Dionne Wilks. Dionne has been successfully teaching voice since 2008 and has worked with many singers during that time. As well as working with many church choirs and worship teams, she teaches voice within Hertfordshire( since 2011) and Luton Borough Schools. She is also the incumbent Choir Director for the Luton Gospel Choir.
Within her role as praise and worship leader at St Hugh's Church in Luton, UK, she is able to identify with the vocal struggles experienced by singers who want to develop but cannot find vocal coaches who understand both the vocal and spiritual needs of Contemporary Christian and Gospel style worship and leading. Dionne has trained in Estill 1+2 and Complete Vocal Technique, but also draws on Speech Level and Bel Canto in her teaching. Feb, 2021 she is also taking her Vocal First Aider Qualification, where she aims to in the final exam in the coming weeks. She continues to research different pedagogues and styles that support strong and healthy vocal delivery. |
