As vocal coach it is important to keep on top of your learning and refresh yours skills so early November I travelled up to Manchester, UK to take Dane Chalfin's belting course, Freedom to Yell.
It's possible, as you read this, you will be asking, "Who is Dane Chalfin?" Nope, it is not a name you'd be familiar with within church circles, but he is certainly one of the most respected 'top of his game' vocal rehabilitation coaches in the UK. You can check out his wikipedia page or see the Dane Chalfin Website I travelled up with one my students, Gigi, arriving early to find a good parking spot. ( click 'read more' below) November 2017 saw the start of the 6 Week Introductory Vocal Course. It had been a longtime coming. Since launching in February of the same year, I had high expectations of a start in May. Then it moved to June. Then I planned for September.
But nothing. In fact, truth be told, no one signed up. ( click 'Read More' below) So Christmas is a few days away and worship leaders are gearing up for extra church services that always occur this time of the year. My church has an extra 3 services PLUS 3 carol singing sessions. For many churches there can be DOUBLE that depending how big the church is.
So I've been thinking about the best items I need to have to hand to get through the next 2 weeks. The items need to be: - handy and be able to fit in my pocket or handbag. - accessible and does not need any technical expertise; simple to use and store With these pre-requisites in mind these are the 7 items in my Christmas Vocal Toolkit |
