November 2017 saw the start of the 6 Week Introductory Vocal Course. It had been a longtime coming. Since launching in February of the same year, I had high expectations of a start in May. Then it moved to June. Then I planned for September. But nothing. In fact, truth be told, no one signed up. ( click 'Read More' below) ![]() Far from being demoralised, I went back to look at the message of the course. What was it saying? Did it speak to the heart of what Voice in Ministry is about? Was it too frivolous? Too Bold? I made one simple change. And even though I loved the original, it didn't fit. It didn't clearly convey the message about what Voice in Ministry is about or what the course wants to achieve. The aim of VIM is to equip, empower and encourage. To support worship leaders and churches in building and developing their singers for ministry. I made one simple change. I changed the title. As I changed the title I felt the anxious tightness in my stomach go. I relaxed. I felt it was now right. And i placed the name change before God in prayer. First Intake Within a month of the name change, November saw the intake of our first 5 students to the Introductory Worship Leaders Vocal Course (previously GetUp&Sing!). The purpose of the introductory course is to help participants to find and understand their voice and personal style. Subjects from warming up to range were covered, providing comprehensive solutions to common vocal issues. Other subjects included, Ad libs and working with backing singers.
Participants represented four local churches and successfully completed the course.
